Apart from going to the dentist - what is the best way to releive tooth ache?

Police Artist asked:
Going to the dentist is the correct thing to do but sometimes it can be easier just to use alternative methods. What do you use?

Whisky or gin, VERY strong painkillers, not all together mind. You know you will have to just go to the dentists though, can’t put it off forever. It can sometimes be something that just won’t clear up on it’s own too perhaps you might need antibiotics.

Try an over the counter product like orajel or ambesol. I know that you said “without the dentist” and all, but you should go ahead a make an appointment to avoid severe gum irritation and a possible abscess.

Aspirin, you can take it or crush it into dust and put it on your aching tooth and gum.
If the pain persists, I guess you should see a dentist.
Good luck!

Gotta ask WHY you don’t want to go to the dentist? Is it the $$ or you’re scared (like me) of what they might do?
You do realize that every severe toothache will eventually land you in the dentist’s chair, right? The longer you try to hang on, the worse it could get.
If $$ is the problem, ask around about low cost options, payment plans, County clinics.
If fear is the problem, be up front with the dentist. Let him/her know that this is tough for you. I think you’d be surprised how many other people have the same problem. There are lots of option for the dentist to ease your pain.
Recently, I’ve had an extensive course of treatment with a really great dentist. He knows now, by the look on my face, when it’s time for more pain medicine.
